Termination of enrollment – examples

Terminating enrollment before final examination session

Your final presentation is on January 22, and you would like to terminate enrollment as soon as possible. There is a final examination session on January 25. You have not registered for the January 25 session and the deadline for registration has already passed. The next session is on February 15.

  • You must submit an enrollment termination request via Studielink by 0.00h on the last working day of January, requesting termination of enrollment with effect from February 1
  • You register for the final examination session on February 15
  • Do not forget – if you are still in receipt of these – to terminate your student grant and your public transport card with effect from February 1

If it is indeed determined on February 15 that you have passed, your termination of enrollment as of February 1 will then take effect. You will receive a tuition fee refund for the months February to August.

If it is determined on February 15 that you have not passed, the termination of enrollment will not take effect. Your enrollment will simply continue and you will need to submit a new request when it is likely that you will pass.

Terminating enrollment after final examination session

You have your final presentation on January 22. There is a final examination session on January 25, but the registration deadline has already passed. The next session is on February 15. You would like to terminate enrollment as soon as possible.

  • You register for the final examination session on February 15
  • You submit a termination request after the final examination session in February requesting termination of enrollment with effect from February 1

However, you are now too late to submit your enrollment termination request with effect from February 1. The request will be considered to be a request with effect from March 1. If it is then determined on February 15 that you have passed, TU/e will terminate your enrollment with effect from March 1.

If it is determined on February 15 that you have not passed, the termination of enrollment as of March 1 will not take effect. Your enrollment will simply continue and you will need to submit a new request when it is likely that you will pass.

Submitting termination request too early relative to final examination session

Your final presentation is on January 22, and you would like to terminate enrollment as soon as possible. There is a final examination session on January 25, but the registration deadline has already passed and you did not register. The next session is on February 15.

  • You submit a request for termination with effect from February 1 on time
  • However, you unfortunately do not register until February for the final examination session on March 25

This means you are now not registered for the first possible final examination session. If it is now determined in March that you have passed, TU/e can only terminate your enrollment with effect from March 1 at the earliest (and therefore not with effect from February 1).

If it is determined on March 25 that you have not passed, the termination of enrollment as of March 1 will not take effect. Your enrollment will simply continue and you will need to submit a new request when it is likely that you will pass.
