Temporary adjustment bachelor-before-master rule academic year 2022/2023

Bachelor’s students

If you have completed at least 175 EC of your bachelor's program before September 1, 2022, you can apply for the master's program you want to take and for which you are eligible. The results of the interim exam period will be taken into account.  You can apply for the master's program until August 1, 2022.

If you meet all registration requirements, your registration is for one year (until the end of the academic year 2022/2023). In this year you can combine your bachelor’s program with your master’s program. It is important that you complete your bachelor’s program in that year. This way you will have as little study delay as possible. If you complete your bachelor's program by August 31, 2023, you can continue your master's program. If you do not complete your bachelor's program on time, you cannot continue with your master's program. The master's courses you obtained then remain valid in accordance with the conditions in the OER.

If you used this regulation in 2020/2021 and do not complete your bachelor’s program on time, you cannot use this regulation again.

Pre-master's students

If you follow a pre-master’s program (partly) in Q3 and Q4 and have obtained at least 25 EC before September 1, 2022 (or have a maximum of 5 EC open), you can apply for the master’s program that the pre-master’s program prepares you for. You can apply for the master’s program until August 1, 2022.

If you are following a pre-master’s program that took place in Q1 and Q2 and if you still have resits in Q3 and Q4/interim, you can also use this regulation. Also in that case you can apply for the master’s program until August 1, 2022.

If you complete your pre-master's program no later than August 31, 2023, you can continue your master's program. If you do not complete your pre-master's program on time, you will not be able to continue your master's program or your pre-master's program (for 3 years).

Students from other universities and higher education institutions

Wo bachelor’s students who are directly eligible for a master’s program at TU/e will be admitted if they have obtained at least 175 EC from their bachelor’s program. If you want to use this regulation, you have to show a declaration from your educational institution before September 1, 2022, showing that you have completed at least 175 EC of your examination program. At the end of the academic year 2022/2023 the external bachelor’s program must be completed. If not, you cannot continue with your master’s program at TU/e.

Hbo-TOP students will be admitted to the master’s program if they have obtained at least 235 EC from their hbo bachelor’s program and if they have completed the hbo-TOP program. Before September 1, 2022, you must submit a statement from your educational institution showing that you have completed at least 235 EC of your examination program at the hbo.

If you are enrolled in a hbo or wo program at a Dutch educational institute and you would like to be admitted to a master’s program at TU/e via a pre-master’s program, you will be admitted to the pre-master’s program if you have obtained at least 175 EC from your wo bachelor’s program or 235 EC from your hbo bachelor’s program. Before September 1, 2022, you must submit a statement from your educational institution showing that you have obtained the required EC.

If you are following a 3-year hbo-bachelor and your hbo-bachelor program therefore does not consist of 240 EC but of 180 EC, you must have obtained 175 EC by August 31 to be able to use the regulation.

How to apply

If you are already studying at TU/e, you can apply for a master's program via Studielink. To start in September 2022, you must register for your master's program by August 1, 2022 at the latest. You also have to re-enroll for your bachelor's program or pre-master's program. This can be done as of mid-June. You will receive a message from us as soon as you can re-enroll.
