Executive Board supports 14 November protests against higher education cuts

On November 14 there will be a large national demonstration in Utrecht against the government's cuts in higher education and science.

The Executive Board supports this action; employees are allowed to participate in the action during working hours and for most students there is no attendance requirement on November 14.

The protest action focuses on the future of the university sector and its importance to Dutch society. The organization is in the hands of the national unions, among others. More information about the location and times of the protest action can be obtained through the unions AOb en FNV.

For participation in the demonstration there are further the following, nationally agreed upon by the universities:

  • Employees may participate during working hours (i.e., it is not necessary to take time off work)
  • Employees who wish to participate in the protest action will coordinate with their supervisor in advance;
  • Teachers will ensure that students do receive all the material within the duration of the courses;
  • Catching up on missed material is the student's responsibility;
  • Scheduled tests will continue;
  • There is no attendance requirement for students on November 14, except for mandatory practicals;
  • TU/e does not reimburse travel expenses and does not arrange transportation to Utrecht.
