New date for demonstration: November 25
November 20, 2024
A new date has been scheduled for the demonstration against the severe budget cuts in higher education: Monday, November 25, at 1 p.m. on the Malieveld in The Hague.
The Executive Board supports this action: employees are allowed to participate in the action during working hours, and for most students, there is no attendance requirement on November 25.
The protest action focuses on the future of the university sector and its importance to Dutch society. The organization is in the hands of the national unions, among others.
For participation as an employee or student in the demonstration, there are the following guidelines, nationally agreed upon by the universities:
- Employees may participate during working hours (i.e., it is not necessary to take time off work);
- Employees who wish to participate in the protest action will coordinate with their supervisor in advance;
- Teachers will ensure that students receive all the material within the duration of the courses;
- Making up missed material is the student's responsibility;
- Scheduled tests will continue;
- There is no attendance requirement for students on November 25, except for mandatory practicals;
- TU/e will not reimburse travel expenses or arrange transportation to The Hague.
