New VPN Service: eduVPN
A new Virtual Private Network (VPN) service is now available: eduVPN. With eduVPN, you can create a secure connection between your device and the TU/e network from home or when using public (Wi-Fi) networks.

This connection is essential for accessing certain TU/e services remotely, such as network shares, software licenses, and the library.
eduVPN is the VPN software for TU/e staff, researchers, and students. Developed by SURFnet, it provides secure access to the TU/e network, no matter where you are. By encrypting your internet traffic and preventing direct connections to public internet, it significantly enhances your privacy and security.
Benefits of eduVPN
- Access to the TU/e Network: Use programs and services that are normally only available on campus.
- Secure Internet Traffic: Protect your data, especially when using public Wi-Fi networks.
- Improved Privacy: Websites will only see the TU/e IP address, not your personal address.
When Do You Need a VPN?
A VPN is not required for many systems, such as email and Microsoft 365. However, you will need a VPN for:
- Accessing specific software and licenses
- Using lab and project computers
- Accessing network shares and library resources
eduVPN provides a safe and user-friendly way to stay connected, even off-campus. For more information and FAQs, visit the Self Service Portal.
