A new version of the Computer & Network Usage Policy is now in effect.
Every day, TU/e students and employees rely on the university’s IT facilities for study and work, and the university is committed to providing reliable resources.
However, IT use also comes with risks, making clear guidelines essential.

What’s in the Policy?

The policy outlines how students, employees, and third parties may responsibly use TU/e’s IT facilities. It also establishes liability and specifies the measures that can be taken in cases of misuse.
While the usage rules themselves haven’t changed, there has been an update to the procedures for reporting possible misuse.

What’s Changed?

Now, when there are reports of improper or unlawful IT use, the Computer & Network Usage Committee (CCNG) will provide guidance on whether further investigation is required.
If an investigation is needed:

  • Personal data or usage data may be reviewed to determine misuse.
  • The CCNG will recommend the extent to which data can be used, ensuring that only essential data are examined and unnecessary data are excluded, with attention to proportionality and necessity.
