You did it! You have been elected to serve on the (candidate) board of your study, student, sport or cultural association. What now? A fun, educational, and perhaps sometimes exciting time is about to start.
Did you know that you can receive guidance for this from TU/e? Together with a team full of enthusiastic colleagues, we provide customized board training and coaching.
Sounds good, what exactly can we expect?
After registration, we schedule an intake with two of your (candidate) board members. We would like to learn more about your board and discuss some practical matters. We will also discuss your wishes and our possibilities.
What training programs can we participate in?
Perhaps you already have a clear idea of what you would like to get out of the training. If not, no problem! We have an extensive list of topics you can choose from, we will discuss these at the intake. To get an idea of the possibilities, we have listed them below:
-
Mission, Vision and Strategy
In this interactive training, you’ll gain insights into yourself and the board, connected to the mission and vision of the board and the goals to be achieved. This training is often taken as the first step in a new board year to set all sails in the right direction.
-
Communication, Feedback, and Collaboration
In this training, we focus on how you, as an individual, react, listen, and communicate. Additionally, we examine these topics within the board: how do you communicate, provide feedback, and collaborate with each other? These factors are essential and addressed in this training to optimize teamwork.
-
Stress & Burnout Prevention
A board year can be demanding and place significant demands on you. This training aims to provide insight into stress and its consequences. We achieve this by combining information with practical exercises. As a result, you’ll become better at recognizing and managing stress, supporting others, and, if necessary, referring them to the right assistance.
-
Decision Making
There are various ways a group can make decisions. This training covers the most important methods. It’s essential to note that one method isn’t inherently better than another. By practicing and gaining insight, we guide you toward making informed decisions.
-
Conflict Resolution
Conflicts are inevitable. The purpose of this training is to learn about conflict definition, potential causes, and how to resolve conflicts. Did you know that there are positive aspects to conflicts? In other words, avoiding conflicts isn’t always the best approach.
-
Inner Critic
The inner critic is that little voice in your head that constantly berates you or tells you that you can’t do something. This can apply to new situations or situations you find challenging. In this training, you’ll gain more insight into this inner critic and learn strategies for dealing with it.
-
(Personal) Leadership
With this training, we provide insights into (personal) leadership. You’ll learn more about self-management and achieving goals by fully utilizing your qualities and talents. What forms of leadership exist, and where do you have influence?
-
Take control of your board year and learn to prioritize (Time management)
Time keeps ticking every day, and you have no control over it. The only thing you can control is your behavior. The choices you make; how do you manage your time? This training offers practical insights, both for yourself and for the team.
-
Meeting Techniques
We often engage in meetings. But how can you make them effective? In this training, you’ll gain insights, tips, and practical experience to become more effective at conducting meetings. Effective meetings lead to greater clarity and efficiency. Who wouldn’t want that?
-
Evaluation
When you organize an event or complete a project, it is highly valuable to evaluate it thoroughly. But how do you approach that? In this training, we discuss what you need to conduct a good evaluation and actively engage in the process.
-
Inclusive Leadership from TINT
Student associations are becoming more and more diverse, members bring along differences in language, gender, cultural and sometimes also religious backgrounds. How do you create an atmosphere in which everyone feels welcome? In the Inclusive Leadership workshops you learn how to create an open environment for dialogue and to build bridges between differences. If you’re looking for assistance with themes or training that we haven’t mentioned here, we can still help you!
During our intake, we can discuss where your needs lie and/or what is currently happening, allowing us to provide targeted support and insights
When can we start?
As soon as possible is our recommendation. Most boards attend their initial training even before they are officially appointed or right after they begin. The earlier you start, the more benefit the board will gain throughout the year from the training. If that’s not feasible, you’re always warmly welcome somewhere throughout the year.
What does it cost?
If your board is identified as a ‘topper,’ you can attend two free training sessions or coaching sessions* (a combination of these two options is also possible). Any additional sessions can be taken at a rate of €350 (including VAT) per three-hour session. If your board is not designated as a ‘topper,’ the cost is €350 (including VAT) per three-hour session. Are you unsure whether your board has a ‘topper’ status? You can inquire (or request) this information from your umbrella organization.
*We can offer a limited number of free training sessions, so we operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
