Mentor system

At the end of the second quartile of your program you choose a personal mentor. This is an experienced lecturer and researcher in the Innovation Management domain, who will be guiding you during the whole IM master's program. The role of the mentor is to help and guide you in making decisions on elective courses, the international semester, and the preparations related to the master thesis project. The mentor will also become the first supervisor of your master thesis.

You apply for a mentor in Q2. Within the track you have elected in your master program, several themes can be distinguished. Following an information meeting on the tracks and potential master thesis themes, you fill in a survey to indicate your topical preferences. Your preferences are matched with the fields of expertise of available mentors and you subsequently receive a personal short list of mentors to contact. You can then schedule interviews with shortlisted mentors and see whether you have a mutual interest to make a student-mentor match.

Together, mentor and student, fill in the Master IM - Mentor Assignment Form (see Forms) and the student sends the completed form to CSA IE&IS. As from this point there is a formal connection between the student and the mentor. The student will choose the electives based on the research area agreed upon  and fill in the Master IM - Elective Courses Form (see Formss). The mentor will reserve time and capacity for guiding the student.
