Business and Product Creation

The track Business and Product Creation emphasizes the front-end of the innovation process, where individuals think about setting up their own business, and where established companies start the development of new and innovative products. The track teaches students the essence of creative idea generation, opportunity identification, entrepreneurial actions, and initiating breakthrough projects. You will learn how ideas and products move through the development stages before they are launched to the market. Special attention is hence given to radically new products, exploring new contexts, and being successful in new and emerging markets. The track Business and Process Creation involves product and service innovations and offers structured models and validated techniques to aid decision-making. 

This track emphasises the creative, entrepreneurial, and breakthrough aspects of innovation processes and prepares you for job market positions like product developer, innovation strategist, innovation manager, strategy consultant, business developer, and project manager in new domains like smart cities, and smart energy. These positions are offered by multinational companies, medium and small enterprises, and governmental organizations. Alternatively, this track provides you with the perfect background for starting your own company. The Business and Process Creation track is less quantitative than the alternative track, Managing Innovation Processes. Instead, it focuses on creative thinking and preparing for experimentation in emerging new markets. 

 

Furthermore, this track has one restricted elective course in Q4, 1ZM130: Design Science Methodology for Business and Product Creation. The purpose of the design project is to integrate the knowledge you have learned across courses in the track by designing an innovative solution to a practical business problem.
