Student guidance
Student guidance at the department IE&IS is organized in different roles:
- Academic advisor
- Student mentor
- Mentor
Academic advisor
The academic advisor is your first point of contact for all study related questions, such as discussing your study progress or your planning, or doubts about your program or study method. Also, for questions about study delay due to personal circumstances or health issues, your academic advisor is your first point of contact.
Meetings with an academic advisor are confidential and take place on campus or online.
In consultation, the academic advisor can decide to refer you to more expert guidance (e.g. student counselor, or a study management advisor. (Check the link ‘Student guidance, whom to contact’ in the ‘Directly to’ column).
Student mentor
If you are a first-year master’s student and new to TU/e, you will be assigned to a student mentor to help you get settled in. During the first semester, the student mentor is your first point of contact for all your practical questions. You will participate in a group with other first year master’s students that are new to TU/e, so it’s also an excellent opportunity to get to know your fellow students.
All student mentors are senior master’s students from your master’s program.
Mentor
A mentor is a member of the academic staff, who advises you in your choice of electives to ensure sufficient coherence in your program. Together you will discuss the Declaration concerning the TU/e Code of Scientific Conduct and sign the elective form.
