TU/e students with a bachelor degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering can directly join the ES Master and do not need to take preparatory courses. Non-CS and non-EE students need the following preparatory courses. There are a few options depending on your prior education, for a total of 7 prerequisite courses.
Take the course:
2IT60 Logic and Set Theory
Take one of these sets, total of 2 courses:
Option 1: 2DI90 Probability and Statistics AND either 5EZA0 Math 1 OR 2DRR00 Linear Algebra and Applications
OR
Option 2: 5EMA0 Mathematics II AND either 5EZA0 Math 1 OR 2DRR00 Linear Algebra and Applications
Take one of these sets, total of 4 courses:
Option 1:
2IP90 Programming
2IC30 Computer Systems
2INC0 Operating Systems
2IRR20 Networks
OR
Option 2:
5EPC0 Circuits
5ESF0 Signals and Systems
5ECD0 Electronic Circuits I
5EIC0 Computer Architecture.
TU/e bachelor students have the following possibilities for satisfying these requirements:
- The courses can be taken as electives during the student's current TU/e bachelor.
- When bachelor is obtained and a maximum of 6 out of these courses are left, the student could follow them as a pre-master program. The exact curriculum of the student’s pre-master will be determined by the admission committee when the student applies.
- When bachelor is obtained and maximum 3 out of these courses are left, the student could follow them as homologation courses as part of the master program.
Non TU/e bachelor
Students with deviating university (WO) bachelor (other than CS and EE) from a university other than TU/e can only be admitted to the ES master if the deficiency is not more than 15 credits (3 courses of 5 credits). We suggest these students check our bachelor programs to make an estimate for themselves that the deficiency is not more than 15 credits.

If the student thinks the deficiency is ≤15 credits, they should submit an application on Studylink. Then the application can be formally considered by the Departmental Admission Committee.
Otherwise, the student is encouraged to apply for the ES pre-master program on Studylink.
