During this course you learn how patents, trade secrets, trademarks, copyrights, design rights and other forms of intellectual property work from the perspective of a startup, a spin-off, or other young technology-based company. Can and should you obtain your own IPRs? How can you obtain the necessary freedom to operate? What are the key elements of a successful IPR strategy for an entrepreneurial venture? You will be: performing a patent search analysis related to the technological idea, investigate whether the idea has the potential to be patented and designing an IPR strategy for the firm that covers both the necessary freedom-to-operate and protection of its own ideas.
