Basic courses
Each TU/e bachelor’s degree student takes a couple of basic courses. Taking these basic courses helps students in developing a broad basic knowledge, that will benefit them in the continuation of their studies.
These are the required basic courses:
- Calculus
- Applied Natural Sciences
- Data Analytics for Engineers
- Engineering Design
- USE basic: User, Society & Enterprise

If you’re taking a different major
If you are transferring to another major during your studies, contact your study advisor to see whether you have to take some extra courses in order to complete your studies successfully.
Transitional arrangements 2023/2024 academic year
In the new Bachelor College curriculum, the topics of the basic courses are integrated in the core program. This affects the basic courses in the current curriculum.

Note 2IAB0: Results for mid-term tests for 2IAB0 obtained in academic year 2022/2023 are used for the determination of the final grade for 2IAB0 in academic year 2023/2024 -- but only if and when the weighted average of all three mid-term tests together is higher than the grade for the exam. In other cases, the final grade is determined by the exam grade only.
Note 3NAB0/3NBB0: Results for mid-term tests obtained in academic year 2022/2023 are used for the determination of the final grade for 3NAB0/3NBB0 in the academic year 2023/2024. Determination of the final grade will be performed according to the assessment plan of academic year 2022/2023, with the addition that the results for mid-term tests are only taken into account when they have a positive effect on the final grade.
