Introduction
One of the mandatory courses for all second-year Bachelor students in Q4 is Multidisciplinary CBL (4CBLW00). In this course, you will work in multidisciplinary teams, composed of students from different majors, collaborating across disciplinary boundaries.
The course offers 25 projects on various topics, organized by different combinations of departments. Each project addresses an open challenge in Engineering Design or Scientific Inquiry.
After enrolling in the course, you will have the opportunity to submit a list of your preferred projects. Details about enrollment and project preferences are provided below.
Enrollment Procedure
This course has a unique enrollment process compared to other courses. Please carefully read the following instructions:
- Enroll for the course Multidisciplinary CBL via OSIRIS under course code 4CBLW00 by Sunday, January 5, 2025.
- Submit your project preferences by Sunday January 12, 2025. You will receive a link to a Microsoft Forms questionnaire via email within one week after enrolling in OSIRIS.
- If you miss the enrollment deadline of January 5, 2025, you must enroll through the ESA helpdesk.
Project preferences are only accepted after enrollment. Please note that preferences submitted after Sunday, January 12, 2025, will not be considered.
In the questionnaire, you will select five preferred projects and provide your student ID, major, and possibly some additional information regarding your interests and background, depending on the projects you choose.

Projects
All projects in this course are organized by different combinations of departments. While some projects welcome students from any program, others may be more suited to specific majors.
Although you are free to choose from any of the 25 available projects, some projects will not align well with your major. It is recommended that you check whether your major is included in the target majors of the projects you are interested in.
A list of projects, along with the targeted majors, is provided in the table below. Click on a project to read more about the desired student profile and project details.
Allocation
The course organization will assign you to a project. Your list of preferred projects (if submitted) will be one of the criteria considered during the allocation process. However, there is no guarantee that you will be placed in one of your preferred projects. Other factors, such as project capacity, target majors, and the requirement to form multidisciplinary teams, will also influence the allocation.
The course will run during timeslots C and D. Projects are scheduled in either slot C, slot D, or both. Please note that you may be assigned to a project in either of these timeslots.
If you need to retake a first-year course in Q4, this may result in a potential scheduling conflict. If this applies to you, please contact the course organization at 4CBLW00@tue.nl as soon as possible, and no later than Sunday, March 23, 2025. For all other requests regarding allocation in timeslot C or D, please contact your study advisor before January 12, 2025. Requests related to work, tutoring, or travel will not be accommodated

Note: Data Science students will be allocated to project 20: 'Addressing Real-World Crime and Security Problems with Data Science.' This project is a mandatory part of the Data Science curriculum.
