As we expect every student to develop a unique profile, there is a fair chance that for developing some specific expertise you want to follow one or more master courses outside our department. Within our program you have the opportunity to choose up to 15 ECTS of master courses at onother department at the TU/e or from another University in the Netherlands.
You can choose to take these courses during the M21 semester; in this case you will also work on your FMP Proposal.
Preparation
For your Master electives, you are free to choose from courses at other departments of the TU/e and/or other Dutch universities as long as there is no or limited overlap with other components of your study program or previous education.
Every student can select a maximum of 15 ECTS of electives outside our department. For details see the Electives page. With the M21 Option DPM440 Master courses at other department/university NL, you dedicate the M21 semester to the courses outside our department. If you would wish to take another course outside our department for your electives, you will exceed the limit of 15 ECTS. In that case you will require the approval of the Examination Committee to have all ECTS accepted for your Study Program.
Registration
Please use Osiris to register for:
- DPM440 Master courses at other department/university NL (15 ECTS)
You also register (separately) for the courses that you are taking at the TU/e or at another university in the Netherlands.
You also need to register for the FMP Proposal (5 ECTS) on Osiris separately.

For other universities the registration deadlines might differ, contact the other university for more details.
Coaching
During the master courses elsewhere, your graduation mentor will have no active role in coaching the learning activity, but can advise you in your professional identity, vision and general development.
Examination
For the DPM440 Master courses at another department/university NL there will be no Competence Assessment, since you will have the examination for your courses at the other Department at the TU/e or at (an)other institute(s).
Processing Results
For each master course outside the TU/e that you have finished, you will need to request the educational office of the host institute to send a transcript of records to our educational office (CSA-ID). If you follow more courses at the same institute, only one transcript is required after finishing the last course. With this information CSA-ID can process the results for the courses. Results for courses at another department of the TU/e are processed automatically.
Results
For DPM440 Master courses at other department/university NL you will not receive a verdict.
Instead each course that you have participated in successfully, according to the host institute, and has been awarded with credits, will be noted with the grade for that course.
The total of credits for DPM440 Master courses at other department/ university NL cannot be more than 15 ECTS, unless there is an approval from the examination committee.
