Complaints

Students can file complaints about the actions or behavior of an entity or person under the university's responsibility.

Complaints will not be processed if a complaint has already been filed and resolved, or if the option for objection or appeal has been available.
General complaints about policy, education, or the implementation of policies or education will not be processed.

Complaints that are part of a criminal procedure will also not be addressed.

If the interests of the person involved or the severity of the behavior are evidently insufficient, the governing body is not required to handle the complaint.

At TU/e, a complaints officer is available through the Complaints and Disputes Facility. This officer is responsible for forwarding complaints and monitoring them. The complaints officer ensures that the complaint reaches the appropriate person who is accountable for addressing it.

Complaints are processed after you (with or without the assistance of a student advisor or study advisor) have completed and submitted the digitally available form.

Informal procedure

It is advisable to contact the entity or person you wish to file a complaint against before formally submitting a complaint. You can also reach out to the person who is most suitable for this, given their position. Often, a solution can be reached without going through formal channels. If you find this difficult, ask your study advisor or a confidential advisor for assistance.

Formal procedure

You can file a complaint within one year after the action or behavior has occurred.

The general rule is that the handling of a complaint is carried out by a person who was not involved in the action to which the complaint relates.

The person against whom the complaint is made will receive the complaint and the relevant documents.

The complainant will be given the opportunity to be heard, and a report will be made of this.

Only when the complaint is evidently unfounded or if the complainant does not wish to be heard can this be waived.

The complaint will be processed within six weeks, which may be extended by four weeks.
